I made it! It’s Thanksgiving break! Woooo! My afternoon class was cancelled; I still had to show up for Rome at 12:30, which was fun but kind of frustrating… Grabbed lunch with Chester afterwards and checked at least one person off my Christmas shopping list…

In other news, it looks like a funeral parlor around here: there are flowers everywhere, having arrived throughout the day, to celebrate Mom’s birthday tomorrow. I’ll be honest, I’m a little jealous — but I’m also glad I get to be here this year to celebrate.

Happy Halloween!

We saw the cutest infant costume EVER today, at Bellevue Square: an 18-month old, in a stroller, dressed up as an OCTOPUS. AN OCTOPUS! I’m so doing that to my kids! Went shopping, found the perfect little black dress, a little blue dress, and a few business casual blouses to wear out with my slacks.

Alanagh came over, we ran around and took pictures, carved pumpkins and watched The Happening, skyped Kevin for a little bit to show off our awesome costumes (well, at least Alanagh’s… she was the Mad Hatter)… we’re up to all kinds of shenanigans and are about to watch The Village and The Sixth Sense – so peace out! Happy Halloween and don’t forget to ‘fall back’ in a few hours!

PS I kind of quit my job today. It’s JUST COFFEE, CALM DOWN.

It was raining like WHOA when it was over, necessitating a midnight stop at Dick’s for fries and a shake… nothing quite like showing up at Dick’s on 45th, at midnight, in the pouring rain, dressed for the symphony!

So tired. Slept on and off until 11:30 (I know, I know), ran a few errands, figured out how to partition my external hard drive so that it could be to back up Windows files. Bought a gallon of Edgecomb Gray, hopefully the red undertones will counteract all of the green light reflected from the park. Ugh.

On an unrelated note, Honeycrisp Apples are back in season! They are my absolute, unequivocal favorite type of apple and I am utterly thrilled. I discovered this lovely surprise while picking up mushrooms for another favorite, Hungarian Mushroom Soup – inspired by the recipe from the Old Wives’ Tales restaurant in Portland, Oregon. It was my favorite as a child but I hadn’t made it years – and the verdict: still fantastic.

Well! Happy 4th of July! This year was amazing – probably the best of the last five. Friends, food, fireworks (albeit, an epic firework fail on the part of the boys). I’ve been thinking a lot about what was going in my life a year ago, and everything has changed so much! I have changed so much in the past calendar year, it’s crazy -and I’m so much better for it. Anyway, happy Independence Day :)
