busy day! errands, coffee date, beachside barbeque, house party. It was great hanging out with people I haven’t seen in months – I didn’t realize how much I missed them

I know some people find them annoying, and I agree that having I-90 closed periodically for four days is really awful, but the Blue Angels are SO DAMN COOL.
and I thought yesterday was smogtastic… gorgeous pollution.
And yes, that is really what my dashboard thermometer read at 1:43 pm this afternoon. It ended up being 103 in Seattle today, 102 on Mercer Island. Today was officially the hottest day in Seattle’s history – beating out the historical record by 8 degrees. I was seriously tempted to run through the sprinklers on campus, but the 6 year old summer campers beat me to it :(
Okay, first of all, I definitely went on a run this morning. Yes. I know. Laugh all you want. I got up at 5:45 am and went jogging. It wasn’t exactly “fun” but it wasn’t as awful as I remember either. We’ll see how this goes…
Anyway, I guess one of the major aesthetic advantages to this heat wave (today we topped out at 98) is that all of the pollution makes for gorgeous sunsets. Observe, exhibit A.
Okay, yes, I see the trend towards post-titles/song lyrics. Evidently my creativity has a limit… oh well!
so today was the first real day of our heat wave: 95 F in Seattle and on the Island. Sitting through class was…. miserable. Fortunately, my class on the third floor of the un-air conditioned Art bldg is in the morning, before it gets too unpleasant. Anyway, even the basement was awful — stuffy, terrible – definitely not conducive to looking at slides and still being awake.
Nothing quite like being stuck in traffic, 95 degrees (fortunately, a stellar A/C system) looking at the lake… driving over the lake… drooling over the lake… Needless to say, I went to the beach (again — 8th straight day!) and was parked next to this classic beauty. Ohh Americana…
GORGEOUS day, worked from 8:30-1pm which was faaaaantaaaastic. Got off work, threw on my bikini and booked it to the beach. Ahh, island living…
Oh Seattle weather… 50F overnight, 60F when I went to work, 75F when I left work and then a thunderstorm at 7 pm / 82 F. Yeah.
